Attachment Unit Interface
To the left of the MAU in the block diagram is the attachment unit interface or AUI. This is called a transceiver cable in the DIX standard. The AUI provides a path for signals and power carried between the Ethernet interface and the MAU. The AUI may be connected to the Ethernet interface in the computer with a 15-pin connector.
