Implementing a WINS Server
To install a WINS server on a Windows NT server, simply select the Windows Internet Name Service from the Control Panel/Networks/Services screen, as shown in Figure 8.1.

No other configuration information is required. The installation copies the required files for the WINS server, and also copies the WINS Administration utility. The WINS server is installed as a service, and starts after your server is restarted. Because WINS is installed as a service, it can be stopped and started from Control Panel/Services or from the command line using NET START/STOP/PAUSE/CONTINUE WINS.
