Announcement Periods

When the Master Browser first comes online it sends out a Domain Announcement once a minute for the first 5 minutes and then only once every 15 minutes. If the domain does not respond by sending out its own DomainAnnouncement for three successive announcement periods, the domain is removed from the Master Browser list. A resource, therefore, might appear on your browse list but actually be unavailable, because it remains on the browse list until three full announcement periods have passed. It is then possible for a domain to appear up to 45 minutes after it is originally unavailable, which may be due to the Primary Domain Controller being off or having physical connectivity problems, such as a bad network card and or cable. You cannot change these announcement times or removal periods.
