Windows NT and Windows 95 as DHCP Clients

You can enable Automatic DHCP configuration either before or after Microsoft TCP/IP is installed. To ensure that the DHCP TCP/IP parameters are used instead of any configured manually on the host, you should preferably enable automatic DHCP configuration before Microsoft TCP/IP is installed. To enable automatic DHCP configuration after TCP/IP is installed, follow these steps.

1.	Double-click the Network icon in Control Panel. The Network settings dialog box will be displayed.
2.	Select the Protocols tab. From the list of installed protocols, select TCP/IP and choose the Properties button. The TCP/IP configuration dialog box appears.
3.	Select the Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration check box. The previous IP address and subnet mask values disappear. Ensure that all other configuration parameters you want DHCP to supply are cleared.
4.	Close the TCP/IP configuration dialog box and the Network setting dialog box. Restart the system when prompted.
