Using Existing BIND Files

If you already have a series of BIND files (as described in Chapter 12) set up on an existing DNS Server, you can use these files to configure the Microsoft DNS Server. The following are the steps you need to follow to configure Microsoft DNS Server to use these files:

1.	Install the Microsoft DNS service (see the preceding section for instructions).
2.	Stop the DNS service (from the Control Panel, choose the Services icon, click Microsoft DNS, and click the Stop button).
3.	Copy the BIND files to the %winroot%\System32\DNS directory.
4.	Start the DNS service(from the Control Panel, choose the Services icon, click Microsoft DNS, and click the Start button).
5.	Use the DNS Manager to verify that your entries are there. (See “The DNS Administration Tool.”)
