Exercise 13.4: Testing the DNS Server

This exercise gives you a chance to test the information you entered and to check that everything is working correctly.

1.	Start a command prompt.
2.	Type the command NSLOOKUP 160.106.101.80 and press enter. What response did you get? (The response should show that 160.106.101.80 is mail2.SunnyDays.com. Here you have done a reverse lookup on the IP address.)
3.	Using the NSLOOKUP command, find out what responses the following entries give you:
	160.106.66.7
	160.106.99.99
	www.SunnyDays.com
	www.dev.SunnyDays.com
	ftp.SunnyDays.com
	The results should be:
	160.106.66.7	rob.SunnyDays.com
	160.106.99.99	ftp_pub1.SunnyDays.com
	www.SunnyDays.com	160.106.65.7 (web1.SunnyDays.com)
	www.dev.SunnyDays.com	148.55.72.14 (web2.SunnyDays.com)
	ftp.SunnyDays.com	160.106.99.99 (ftp_pub1.SunnyDays.com)
4.	Start an interactive session with the name server by typing NSLOOKUP and pressing enter.
5.	Try the following commands:
	ls SunnyDays.com
	ls -t mx SunnyDays.com
	ls -d
	q=soa
	SunnyDays.com
	q=mx
	SunnyDays.com
	Where is the third mail server?
	dev.SunnyDays.com
6.	Press Ctrl+C to exit the interactive query.
7.	Close the command prompt.
