Error 53 Is Returned When Trying to Make a NetBIOS Session
You are trying to establish a NetBIOS session, such as mapping a drive by using the Net Use command, but Error 53 is returned. This happens because the computer name cannot be found on the network. In other words, TCP/IP can’t find a computer name to resolve to an IP address. You can use the normal NetBIOS host resolution troubleshooting to resolve this problem. If the host names are correct, it’s possible you are using NetBIOS scopes. If NetBIOS scopes are configured (non-blank), only hosts with the same scope ID can communicate with each other.
