Exercise 17.5: Configuring RAS as a Server

In this exercise, you will set up the Remote Access Service to act as a RAS server; this will allow others to dial in to your machine.

1.	Open the Network Setting dialog box and choose the Services tab.
2.	Click on the Remote Access Service and click the Properties button.
3.	In the dialog box that appears, select the Null Modem cable (or the modem you are using) and select Configure.
4.	Click the Dial Out and Receive Calls option and then OK to close the dialog box.
5.	Click the Network button. From here, ensure that TCP/IP is configured in the Server Settings.
6.	Click the Configure button beside TCP/IP and choose Use static address pool.
7.	Enter 148.53.90.0 as the Begin address and 148.53.90.255 as the end address. Click OK to close the dialog box and OK again to close the Server settings.
8.	Click Continue to return to the Network Settings dialog box and then choose Close.

Restart your computer.
